Invitation for Senior High School


What is invitation?

• a written or spoken request for someone to go somewhere or to do something
• the act of inviting someone
• something that encourages someone to do something or that makes something more likely to happen

Then, what about the social function?

↪ the main function of invitation is asking or requesting someone to go to a place, do something, or participate in certain event.

 And, the generic structure?

• Invitee : who are invited
• Body of invitation 

     -Title or type of event : including the purpose or type of event           will be held
     -Orientation : inform about what will or who will come
     -Date and time : including when or where the event will be held
     -Closing : including hope of the writer to the reader to come to         his/her event

Specific text :

• Using simple future tense
• Including detail time, date, and place of event 

Types of invitation :

➧ Formal Invitation : This type of invitation has a meaning official senses. It is written by institution or company. Due to its formality, such typical invitation seems to tie the people whom are invited.

The example of formal invitation : 
➭Written masthead and  numbers letters. 
➭Official language. 
➭Using a stamp. 
➭Plain paper, usually white. 

 The example of informal invitation :
➭No letterhead or letter head. 
➭Diversity casual language. 
➭No stamp. 
➭Colored paper free and may be pictorial.
